Visit Thorvald Hansen's Tower

Læsø offers many attractions of widely varying kinds – often related to nature, gastronomy or culture.
In terms of architecture, Læsø is world-famous for its well-preserved seaweed roofs, and then there is Thorvald Hansen's tower in the middle of the island in Byrum.

Feel free to stop by and take a tour of the tower – the entrance fee is symbolic, just as it was when Thorvald himself was the tower keeper...

Thorvald Hansen's tower is aptly located on Thorvald Hansensvej right in the middle of Byrum – behind the bicycle repair shop, the museum and close to Mejeripladsen. Parking is available nearby.

Clairvoyance

The construction

"One day in 1926, Thorvald Hansen is lying on his hill in Byrum and realises that, unlike when he was a child, he can no longer see the whole island, but only the roofs of the houses in Byrum and a few trees here and there. Thorvald wants to get a better view of Læsø and decides to build himself a tower."
